Friday, June 19

Hi, hope your having a great day. I have two kids home from school today and most of next week, the swine flu has hit the school and it's closed for a week. I suppose it had to happen sooner or later. It's lucky that I work from home and don't have to take time off like some parents have to. They go back to school on Friday for one day then it's school holidays and their home for another two weeks. I'll have to think of some interesting things for them to do like clean their rooms and wash the car. grin My older child is not happy at all, his school is still opened, but for how long!
The card I have to show you today is a Wedding Anniversary card for my Mum and John. I've used my new stamp set Dreams du Jour and I got to play with my new toy the crimper. I love the crimper in the Stampin' Up! catalogue (made by Fiskars) it is so much better than my old cheep one which struggled to crimp two sheets of DSP. This crimper can crimp cardboard from a packaging box very easily and is much wider. I'm going to be playing with it a lot.
Recipe
Stamp Set: Dreams du Jour
Ink: pink pirouette, ruby red, kiwi kiss, basic brown, close to cocoa
Card: close to cocoa, whisper white, pink pirouette
DSP: Urban Oasis
Punch: eyelet boarder
Accessories: crimper, blender pen, stripped ribbon pink pirouette, 2 way glue pen, snips, dimenionals

Hopefully, with the kids home, I'll be able to get some computer time...

Party Fun.

What a fantastic weekend I've had. Rebecca's Disco Party was a great success, we had 17 disco diva's and 2 Elvis's dancing and singing, everyone had a great time. Sunday we helped my friend make wedding invitations of her daughter. That was a really fun and the bride was really happy with them. Sorry I can't show you a pic of them, top secret!

So today I have the party bags we gave out to all the diva's at Rebecca's party to show you. We gave them the plastic goblet at the start and put the lollies in just before they went home. Can you see how the stem lights up. They look really good in the disco room. My wonderful sister found these at a cheepy shop and they were perfect. I made tags so the girls knew which goblet was theirs.
Now that's one party down, one to go. Jamie's having a Dino Disco Party in a couple of weeks. I better get that organized quick.

Wild Child.

Hi, Rebecca and I had a great time shopping last night. After walking around the shopping centre for two hours we left with one top and one pair of shoes. It was so hard to find anything Rebecca liked. All the teenage clothes are "weird" Rebecca's words, and I have to agree with her. At least she got something new to wear to her party and we had fun doing girly stuff together.

Today I've got another foldout scrap page to show you. I love these.

Front cover.

Wow look at the difference. I always have trouble taking photos with a lot of black. But thanks to Lisa Spangler (Sideoats and Scribbles) not anymore. She has a great tutorial on fixing a photo's colour levels. And it's very simple. And a great challenge Scribble This!: Week 2. Check it out. Now I've still got a bit off playing to do but I'm getting there. Thank you Lisa.

Inside.
Recipe
Stamps: circle circus, defining alphabet, jumbo outline alphabet
Ink: baja breeze, kiwi kiss, basic black
Card: basic black textured, kiwi kiss, going gray, basic gray, kraft, baja breeze

I probably won't be posting anything tomorrow with the disco party happening so I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Happy Birthday Rebecca.

Today is my baby girl's 12th birthday. She had lots of fun opening her presents before rushing off to school. Tonight I'm taking her on a girls only shopping spree to pick an outfit for her party. She is having a Disco Party on the weekend with a disco ball, fairy lights, glow thingies, karaoke, and no party is complete without cupcakes. So I thought I'd show you the invitations I made cause I'm really pleased how they turned out. I made 18 of these, big job.

Here is the front.

Here's the back.
And here is the inside.

I've used the gorgeous Sweet Always DSP, just perfect for these invitations.
Now I better go and make her Birthday Card before I head out for lunch with my friend Margaret for her birthday. Lots of cake for me today.
Have a good one.

Simply Scrappin' Class Projects.

I'm back with the projects from Saturday's Simply Scrappin' Class. This class was really fun with a great group of ladies. We made three projects using the Simply Scrappin' Kit. Well.... we didn't quite get the 12 x 12 page finished/started, I did mine the next day and it was fast and easy to do. The Kit's are a great way to get lots of scrappin' done fast. We all had different kits so it was good to see what everyone did with theirs. I had the Hoppy Memeries Kit.

The first project was this cute little photo book.

Then we made this Foldout Scrap Page. (we made one similar at convention I'll show in another post) It looks like a 6 x 6 page that folds out to a 12 x 12 page. Love it.

And our third project was a 12 x 12 scrap page.

And there is still heaps left over in the kit for other scrap pagers or cards. Now that's got me thinking...

Challenge Samples.

Hi, hope your all enjoying the lovely weather were having to day. Just wanted to let you know that I've posted the sample cards for Leah's Monthly Challenge #9. You can click here or just scroll down a bit.
I'll be back soon to show you the projects we made on Saturday at the Simply Scrappin' Class.

Leah Monthly Challenge #9

It's time to get inspired for another challenge.

For Challenge #9 were going with the colours from the Bold Brights colour family.
The colours are: Lovely Lilac, Pink Passion, Only Orange, Gable Green and Whisper White.

There aren't really any rules, just let the picture inspire your creation weather it be a card, scrap page or 3d item. If you don't have all the colours just use something similar.

Then email me a picture of your creation or link it to your blog with a comment in this post.

Entries in by Tuesday 30th June.

Again I haven't made any samples for you, :( hopefully over the weekend.

Enjoy!

Edited to add: Sample cards.

The first one is using the Big Bold Birthday stamp set. A really fun card for kids, I gave this one to my niece last night.

And this card I used the Trendy Trees stamp set. Yes I used a tree to make a flower :) I was inspired by a card I saw on Kim Badelt blog. You can see Kim's card here. It's much nicer than mine. It's was a real challenge for me using these colours but don't let that stop you having a go.
